Good afternoon,

Thank you to all who were able to attend Crystal Bay’s Open House last Thursday. Check out some photos below. Students enjoyed field trips to Commissioners Park -taking in the beautiful tulips, two classes attended the Ottawa Children’s Festival performance at Lebreton Flats while other classes explored the Nepean Sportsplex Trails this week. Caterpillars were delivered to each classroom last week. We encourage you to use this Butterfly Life Cycle Core Vocabulary sheet to ask your child/youth about what they are learning.

We will be purchasing a Crystal Bay logo T-Shirt for each student (at no cost to families). Students will be encouraged to wear their T-Shirt on School Spirit days and special events. Other items are available for purchase. The catalogue of orderable items can be found here. Orders can be made on School Cash Online until May 21st.

In accordance with the OCDSB General Guidelines for Creating Safe and Healthy Schools for Anaphylactic Students [and Staff], Crystal Bay, is a chalk-free and scent-free school. A reminder for students and visitors to please not wear colognes or perfumes to school. While it is impossible to create a risk-free environment, school staff, and parents can take important steps to attempt to minimize potentially fatal allergic reactions. Additionally, classroom teachers will advise you of considerations for anaphylaxis food allergens. Please reach out to your child/youth’s teacher if you have any questions.

A reminder our new Student Absence Management System went live on May 14th. See: SafeArrival Postcard, To report absences by phone, use the toll free number 1-833-202-1417. Additional information is available on the webpage.

Our annual Swim, Walk, and Cycle-A-Thon continues this week. Its purpose is to raise additional funds to enhance programming for the direct benefit of all students at Crystal Bay. The Swim, Walk, and Cycle-A-Thon is designed to provide students with the opportunity to participate in this activity to the best of their abilities and will occur during each child/youth’s regular swimming block or Physical Health Education block.  Deadline for pledges to be sent into the school is May 31st. Pledges can be collected via School Cash Online (at and by cheque. Monies raised will be used by all students for activities, supplies, equipment which compliment items funded by provincial grants. Specifically, these funds will be used towards the purchase cause-effect sensory toys, a Spring Field trip, and the booking of a school-wide performance.
