December 3, 2024

Good afternoon,

It’s hard to believe it is December already. Thank you for engaging in Parent/Guardian-Educator Interviews last week. We appreciate your partnership in your child/youth’s learning.

In November, the students recognized Hindu Heritage Month and Lebanese Heritage Month by engaging in visual art and Living Skills activities. They made homemade hummus with naan, as well as some samosas and tabbouleh. They viewed examples of rangoli art and looked for patterns made of circles and triangles in it. They also created their own artwork with coloured salt inspired by the ancient Hindu tradition. Also in recognition of Hindu Heritage Month, during library times, we read 'Festival of Colors', 'The Boy and The Bindi' and 'Brown is Beautiful'. We continue to build our library collection so students have the opportunity to see themselves in our texts.

The Core Word of the Month for December is look. We invite you to engage in the following activities with your child/youth.

OCDSB Program and Services prepares Building the Bridge Home/School Connects Newsletter. Sharing the December issue with you here

OCDSB Family Conference was held on November 4th. Recorded presentations now available.

A reminder that we are accepting Living Skills Program Cookie orders until December 6th. Place an order for a half dozen holiday cookies baked by students during Living Skills blocks. Proceeds will go towards the life skills budget for future ingredients and grocery store purchases. All cookies will be nut-free and made in a nut-free environment. Note cookies do contain egg, dairy, and gluten. At this time we can only offer a half dozen/student so we don't overextend ourselves. Questions? Please reach out to [email protected].
