We will be having elections for the Crystal Bay School Council 2020/2021 year. Our first School Council meeting will be on October 13th, 2020 at 6:30 p.m. This will be a virtual meeting and invitations will be sent out to those who have submitted their email to Janet Bowen, School Council Chair, at the school council email address ( ). 

Nomination forms are attached below if you would like to nominate yourself or someone else as a School Council Parent Representative for 2020/2021. These nomination forms are  to be returned to the current School Council Chair, Janet Bowen, via the school council email address. Nominations will close on Tuesday, October 6, 2020 at 4:00 p.m. More information on the process for the elections of the Parent Representatives will be forthcoming.  A minimum of five parents need to be elected to the school council. Once elected, the members elect from amongst themselves at the first  school council meeting the officers of chair, vice chair or co-chair, treasurer and secretary at  the first School Council Meeting.

The positions include:

Chair or Co-Chair

The responsibilities of chair include: arrange for meetings, prepare agendas, chair meetings, ensure that meeting minutes are recorded and kept in a safe place for a minimum of four years, participate as ex-officio member on council committees, communicate with the school principal on behalf of council, maintain the constitution and ensure a regular review by the council, communicate with the school community on a regular basis and ensure that parents/guardians of all students are consulted on matters under consideration, facilitate the resolution of conflicts, consult with senior board staff and trustees as required, prepare an annual report and ensure the treasurer prepares financial statements to be submitted to the principal for distribution to the school community and the OCDSB.

Vice Chair (if no Co-Chair)

To support the chair with all of their responsibilities. 


To support the chair with the financial duties outlined above and prepare financial statements.


To support the chair by taking and distributing the minutes of the meeting.

Parent Representatives

The responsibilities include: contribute to school and school council discussions; solicit views of other parents/guardians and community members to share with the council; participate on council committees; observe the council's code of ethics and constitution; encourage parents/guardians and community members to participate in events and programs.
